Our Kaiwaka Seconds range includes garments that didn’t quite meet our strict appearance standards — maybe a small mark, a minor fabric flaw, or a stitch slightly out of line. But rest assured, every piece is fully functional, waterproof, windproof and made to the same standard of durability that defines Kaiwaka.
High-visibility flame-retardant waterproof safety jacket designed for high-risk worksites. Fully compliant, flexible and made to outlast.
Measurements above are based on actual body measurments, not garment measurements.
We design our garments with enough room to accommodate extra layers worn underneath, unless stated otherwise

Specifications
Waterproof rating
Waterproof ratings, measured in millimeters (mm), indicate how much water pressure a fabric can withstand before it starts to leak. Higher ratings mean greater water resistance and protection from rain, snow, and wet conditions. A jacket with a 10,000mm rating can withstand a 100-meter column of water pressure. Understanding Waterproof Ratings: Up to 2,000mm: Water-resistant, suitable for very light rain. 2,000mm to 5,000mm: Waterproof, suitable for light to average rain. 5,000mm to 10,000mm: Very waterproof, suitable for moderate to heavy rain. 10,000mm and above: Highly waterproof, suitable for heavy rain. 15,000mm and above: Offers top performance in wet conditions. 20,000mm and up are ideal for all conditions and heavy loads. Note: Ratings only apply to the fabric itself. Many Kaiwaka garments use proprietary design and technology, which includes incorporating multiple layers, thus achieving higher waterproof levels.

Temperature
Temperature ratings on our garment indicate how well a garment insulates and protects against cold, but they are not a precise science. Different garments use varying construction methods, and personal comfort levels can differ significantly. Factors like activity level, layers, and wind conditions also affect how warm someone feels.

Durability
Durability in our garments is assessed through tests from real-world wear and tear, such as abrasion resistance, tear strength, and impact resistance. These tests help determine how well a garment's fabric and construction can withstand everyday use and harsh conditions

Lifespan (years)
Clothing lifespan ratings are not standardised. Factors like fabric type, construction quality, and usage patterns can significantly impact a garment's lifespan. With data collected from our repair department, we can provide a general indication of a garment's average lifespan until it is deemed as no longer repairable.

Breathability (gm/m2-24hrs)
Indicates how well a fabric allows moisture vapour (sweat) to escape from the inside to the outside, helping to regulate body temperature and prevent clamminess during activity. A higher rating means better breathability, allowing more sweat to escape. Higher Ratings (8,000+): Indicate excellent breathability, ideal for high-intensity activities and warmer climates where moisture management is critical. Moderate Ratings (4,000-8,000): Suitable for various activities, including hiking, cycling, and general outdoor use. Lower Ratings (Below 4,000): These ratings are suitable for activities with less physical exertion, like casual wear or light work.
