Waterproof ratings, measured in millimeters (mm), indicate how much water pressure a fabric can withstand before it starts to leak. Higher ratings mean greater water resistance and protection from rain, snow, and wet conditions. A jacket with a 10,000mm rating can withstand a 100-meter column of water pressure.
